Highlight today, Gray-out the past

When looking at the calendar, it would be really nice to quickly see which day is today. This could be done by adding a special "Today" heading at the top and/or giving it a special background. Likewise, it would be helpful if days in the past were grayed-out or otherwise distinguished from the days that are coming up.

It would be nice to have days that are already passed be visually different than the current day or upcoming days. This way I can quickly glance and see what day I'm on. In my paper planner, I put a strike though in pencil to signify that that day has passed. Some thing like this could be very helpful for students as well if they are checking my planner to see what is upcoming vs. what has already passed
